It was very interesting listening to Naomi go through her research with us. I like the idea that we are still looking at reflection on their learning. Students can be put into the teacher by using their learning to share with other students. Loved the idea of the preposition in, under and videoing of the task.
DLO sits nicely in the new Digital Curriculum. Student Design for Learning promotes learning for other students. The features of the DLO should have opportunities for students to teach others.
Here are some DLO's from educators. https://education.abc.net.au/home#!/media/1390357/fair-test
Multi modal needs to have flow and the red make you play attention to the language.
You support the learner by cueing them to specific text. You could link this to a glossary of definition. The image draws the reader in and the writing is a supplement to support the picture.
This one doesn't draw the reader into what they are learning. Picture doesn't even relate to the text. We need to work on students collaborating more on what they are working on and record them during the process. Students can become designers of text.
Teachers need to improve their word banks so students can incorporate it into not just their writing but into their oral language. How do we get students to create Student Design for Learning?
Ask students how they can share their learning to teach other students about their learning. Keep the idea of process and product. We want to be able to give them creative agency over their learning.

Great idea about the nudges to make DLO's way more student designed for learning. (Note to self check slide show nudges). If a blog post had a great dialogue highlight this in your class. Discussion is a great way of learning. With their DLO's you want to be able to build the language, explain the power of the mode. Communicate how you want to combine a visual and a written mode in your DLO.
Getting creativity out of our students so that they can share learning that shows diversity of DLO's. What we are really wanting to do is leverage the digital tools to give deeper learning.
Last thoughts for me was make sure all our teachers have a shared understanding about what a DLO is.
