 Learner needs a purpose for reading.  They need to have an effective reading experience.  Knowing what you are learning to do and knowing what you need to do when reading.

Text Sets

Unified understanding so we need to show the students can learn from one text to another.  Couple of examples.

You don't plan for high order you won't get to it.  Purposeful about open ended questioning. It needs to be planned for.

Extended discussion is different from questioning.  It goes around the children not involving the teacher.

Students are invited to discuss and as the teacher you are letting them do the talking.

Students need to learn about how to have a discussion.

Some examples about critical literacy.  Sharing ideas will help the group develop their understanding about what they are reading.

Transfer strategies have high effect size on students learning.

Transferring vocab knowledge.

Students believe that the errors that they make are helping to develop their understanding.

Awesome slide to share characteristics of capable visible learners.  Students need to know what they are doing and make adjustments to their learning.  This will allow them to learn. Students need to know when they need help and what they need to do when they need help.

Observation Tool PLG

Very informative PD looking at the new Observation Tool that we are going to use in the class. Look forward to trying it out and seeing how it impacts the teaching and learning. From that workshop I had adpated the slides and made a quick check sheet to check in when you are planning.
